Kjlennon's Blog

I am MR. Opinions, so I thought i'd write some down.

May, 28th 2008- My first blog ever.

It is argued, or should I know, an easy way to start a discussion with me, politically, is to enquire my thoughts over capital punishment. As you may or may not know, I am totally against any form of physical punishment that will cause pain to any human being, objective of what he/she has done. I think that in the eyes of ‘supposedly’ better humans, it is disgusting to even contemplate such a contentious issue. I do not believe in ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’. If people agree with this statement, which I believe the bible is incorrect over such, I feel that if people who want a form if where your hand will be cut off for stealing, stoned to death for adultery, and tortured to death for being homosexual, then people should migrate to countries that have that statement at the core of their legal system, but sadly for those possible right wingers that would be a contradiction, as so many disagree with immigration, and would not be allowed to migrate to one of those countries. I believe solely in a secularised legal system, whereby no religion interferes in the sentencing of the criminal. Religion should only be useful on issues of morality and the establishment of peace. There must be civil human right laws protecting all people from the state. The reasons include: firstly, what an order it would be to condemn an innocent person, as once they are dead there will be no return; secondly, are we not supposed to be the better person? Surely if the state kills a person that is seen as a lawful example where would the ‘buck’ stop? Is death also not an easy way out, and who has the right by god or moral judgements to commit a person to death, is a judge correctly trained on the laws of morality?  Power must not be too centralised in the hands of one political institution or person.

How has a ‘so called’ Labour party, more of a New Right watered down version of Thatcher I think, introduced a tax on the educated, in the form of Tuition Fees? This idea that the educated should be taxed to fund an illegal war over Oil and Imperialism, on people who are trying to be educated, is totally contradictory and immoral. What really should happen is the rich should be taxed for being rich. They are the people who have the money to pay, as a majority of them had benefited from a free education system to get where they are. The state should cater for all, education should be a civil right for being a British Citizen, and university should be more open to all Europeans included. The benefits of a free trade, free labour, education, culture, diversity, and communication, to name but a few, which has been incorporated by the European Union is truly beautiful. Debt should not be a hindrance upon prosperity and evolution.

Many argue Europe is as a contentious issue as capital punishment, people believe that sovereignty is lost to the undemocratic and unelected powers of the European Union. Europe does not intend to steal Britain’s sovereignty, it is a union of powers to create and develop a greater power, built upon trust, communication, a free market, which enables a growing economy to continue, with the added benefits of security. People’s views are represented in a totally elected European Parliament, which is decided in elections by you and I. This tiny island no longer has a powerful empire to call upon in times of crisis; our ‘special friendship’ is under threat and pressure due to an illegal war, over America’s lust for imperial power based upon the thesis of Geo-politics. What empire or mindless nation would stand up to Britain and its allies within the European Union? Very few is the answer, but that number would steadily increase with the separation from the European Union. Our similarities are multiple with our friends within Europe, over issues such as: the environment, which can only be combated through the European Union, peace, social democracy, civil liberties, immigration, social justice, trade, socialism the same cannot be said to the friends across the pond.

The issue of health for the elderly, free health care must be distributed to those who need it most, as seen above the border in Scotland, there must be greater aid to elderly widows, who should be entitled to more of her husbands private pension fund, not a mere 50% before tax, and then a poultry lesser amount after tax, this is an injustice. Everyone, no matter their background, needs a patient guarantee, so if the NHS can’t treat them in time, the government will pay for them to be treated elsewhere. Pensioners must be given regular checkups by Doctors; Nurses and Carers to administer and maintain care to those who are not as mobile, total free transport to over 65’s between social hours, with the re-nationalisation of the Train industry to increase efficiency and the maintenance of the tracks. The NHS does need an element of bureaucracy, but the needless managers corrupting the administration of care towards the countries patients has caused a massive hindrance financially and over issues such as morale within hospitals. Competition does not increase standards, money and faith in doctors, competent individuals and motivation of a team within our hospitals will increase the production of care throughout the United Kingdom.

I think you may be bored by now, so I will continue this another day, please leave comments on what you think.
